Injured Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre will not be placed on injured reserve amid reports that his season, and career, may be over after suffering a sprained AC joint in a loss to the Bills on Dec. 5. The injury caused Favre to miss Monday night’s game against the New York Giants, snapping his NFL-record streak of 297 games started.
Brett Favre Not Placed On Injured Reserve, May Play Monday Night Against Bears
The Vikings are not only holding out hope Favre may play again this year; they’re hoping he can play this week against the Chicago Bears. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier isn’t worried about Favre’s injury despite the gruesome-looking bruise Favre was sporting on Monday night.
“I don’t see that as being part of the equation at this point,” Frazier said. “It looks like there’s a chance that we’re going to be able to get him back at some point. Hopefully this week.”
If you weren’t tired of Favre-a-palooza by now, you will be by the time the Vikings take the field on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears. Whether this is gamesmanship by the Vikings or they do hold out legitimate hope for Favre’s return, expect speculation to run rampant for the next week. If Favre’s annual retirement dance is any indication, it’ll be a fun-filled five days.
Stay tuned for the latest on Favre’s injury and his status for Monday night’s Vikings-Bears game at TCF Bank Stadium.
