The Vikings’ tumultuous weeks continues: not only has there not yet been an official announcement on where they will play Monday night (though it’s likely TCF Bank Stadium), but now their quarterback situation has taken a turn for the (much) worse.
Tarvaris Jackson Placed On IR, Vikings Expect To Start Joe Webb Monday Night
According to multiple reports, Tavaris Jackson will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season. Jackson suffered a foot injury Monday night against the New York Giants, in Detroit.
It was expected that the Vikings would place Brett Favre on the the IR but by ending Jackson’s season instead, it could mean we haven’t seen the last of The Gunslinger just yet.
Although the Vikings brought in Patrick Ramsey on Wednesday, Adam Schefter says Minnesota will likely start Joe Webb against the Bears Monday night, a rookie drafted out of UAB as a wide receiver in the sixth round. Webb attempted five passes against the Giants, completing two of them for eight yards, while playing one play in the first quarter and then handling five snaps in the fourth.
The Star Tribune’s Judd Zulgad indicates that this could not only be the end of Jackson’s season, but also his time in Minnesota. The Vikings drafted Jackson in the second round of the 2006 draft. In his five years, Jackson has thrown 24 touchdowns compared to 22 interceptions with a 10-9 record while appearing in 36 games.
Vikings interim head coach Leslie Frazier and Favre are scheduled to address the media Thursday at 12:30 p.m. EST.
