Brett Favre’s Injury Keeps Him Off IR; Could Play Vs. Eagles

If you thought the image of Brett Favre lying on the ground at TCF Bank Stadium last Monday night against the Bears was enough to get rid of him, think again. Though Favre did suffer a concussion on the play, the Vikings will not place him on injured reserve and they will not rule him out from playing this weekend against Philadelphia.

Why keep playing him? The argument for is that it’s Brett Favre, he’s got two games remaining in his career and if he wants to play then let him play as he walks off into the sunset. The argument against is the one I heard at Daily Norseman the other day -- what about everyone else?

And I knew that I had well and truly given up on the season because instead of looking at the game the way I would normally look at a regular season game, I looked at it like a preseason game where the primary goal is to evaluate talent.

The Vikings know they'll be without Favre next year but they don't really know what they have in Joe Webb. That, however, won't keep them putting Favre on IR.

Favre will make a decision this week on playing the Eagles. And, as last week showed up, even if he decides not to play, that could change a few hours beforehand.
