A’s starting pitcher Justin Duchscherer was removed from his most recent start with significant pain in his hip. An MRI revealed inflammation, leading to a cortisone shot, and now the team has officially put Duchscherer on the disabled list for the injury, retroactive to April 30th:

The Oakland Athletics on Friday placed starting pitcher Justin Duchscherer on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip inflammation.
The right-hander was 2-1 with a 2.89 earned run average in five starts for the A’s this season. The move is retroactive to April 30 and he is eligible to be reinstated May 15.
Coming up to take Duke’s place on the roster is reliever Edwar Ramirez, who spent time with the A’s earlier in the year. Vin Mazzaro will continue to occupy the injured starter’s spot in the rotation.
