Free agent O.J. Atogwe was a member of the Rams 24 hours ago. If things continue to progress, he’ll return there. Two sources tell Dan Graziano of FanHouse.com the Rams are the “favorites” to re-sign the safety.
Rams The Favorites To Land O.J. Atogwe, Dolphins Making ‘Strong Push’
One of the sources, who has spoken with Rams management in recent days, said negotiations between the sides have remained amicable even in the absence of an agreement. And even though the Miami Dolphins are making a strong push, the environment remains favorable for a deal that would return Atogwe to St. Louis.
One Miami beat writer called the chances of signing Atogwe a “long shot.”
Graziano reports the Vikings are still a possibility, despite a Minneapolis report that they weren’t interested.
It also sounds as if Atogwe won’t land the big payday some thought he would get. There were reportedly a half-dozen teams interested in him at some point in the last week but as of now only two of those teams -- the Rams and Dolphins -- appear to be serious bidders.
