Lions Haven’t Ruled Out Free Agent Safety O.J. Atogwe

Last week, Lions beat writer Tom Kowalski reported that free agent safety O.J. Atogwe’s salary demands are “high” and SB Nation’s Pride of Detroit agreed indicating that’s the reason he’s not getting many sniffs on the open market.

This week Kowalski reports the Lions haven’t ruled out adding Atwogwe.

The front office, though, will be quite busy. In addition to keeping an eye on potential free agents such as St. Louis Rams safety O.J. Atogwe, executives will be busy negotiating contracts with the team’s draft picks.
As far as the pursuit of Atogwe or other free agents, Schwartz said, “I think we’ll just leave it with what we said before. Every chance we have to improve the team, we’ll explore. Let’s leave it there.”

With Louis Delmas in the fold, Atogwe could quickly make the Lions one of the better, young safety tandems in the league. I think ultimately it comes down to his salary demands.

All recent reports regarding Atogwe have indicated the Rams are the front-runners to re-sign him.

To get a gauge of how Lions fans are feeling about Atogwe, check out Pride of Detroit.
