About a week ago, there were as many as eight teams reportedly interested in the services of impeding free agent O.J. Atogwe. Once he finally hit the open market on Tuesday night, the interest went away. According to various reports, the Rams are the leader in the clubhouse to re-sign him while the Dolphins -- who have been heavy players in free agency -- are making a “strong push” for his services.
O.J. Atogwe’s Salary Demands Are ‘Extremely High’
We’re now starting to realize why teams aren’t so interested in Atogwe. According to Lions beat writer Tom Kowalski, Atogwe’s salary demands are “extremely high” which is the reason the Lions and other teams aren’t climbing over each other to sign him.
Meanwhile, Kowalski reports the Lions are interested in Atogwe’s abilities and would like to shore up the safety position with someone like him -- just not at his price.
SB Nation’s Pride of Detroit sums up very well the Atogwe situation over the last 48 hours:
It seems like it would be easier to compile a list of the teams not interested in Oshiomogho Atogwe rather than the teams looking to bring him in.
