2010 British Open At St. Andrews, Second Round: Louis Oosthuizen Still Leads, Rory McIlroy Fading While Tiger Woods Still In The Hunt

With windy conditions still buffeting the afternoon groups at the 2010 British Open, the scores are steadily rising at St. Andrews. Louis Oosthuizen took advantage of getting his second round in relatively early in the day with a 5-under 67 that brought him to a record-tying 36-hole total of 132, good for 12-under and a five-shot lead halfway through the tourney.

Veteran Mark Calcavecchia likewise shot 5-under in his second round to get to 7-under for the championship, in sole possession of second place. A pair of Brits -- Lee Westwood and Paul Casey -- headline a group tied for third place at 6-under, along with four others.

The sledding has been tougher for the afternoon groups, including three of the men atop the leaderboard on Thursday. First-day leader Rory McIlroy has come back to Earth after a blistering 9-under 63 on the first day, with a bogey-marred round of 5-over through 11 holes to drop him to 4-under on the tournament.

John Daly, whose opening round 66 thrust the troubled former champ into contention, has likewise struggled with the adverse conditions, en route to going 3-over through 15 holes to fall to 3-under overall. Meanwhile, noted golf enthusiast Tiger Woods has rebounded from beginning his round with consecutive three-putt bogeys to get back to 1-over for his round through eight holes to bring him to 4-under on the championship.
