In the bottom of the seventh inning of a game between the Indians and the Red Sox, Boston outfielder Daniel Nava hit a single, sending runner Ryan Kalish around third base on a course for home. It was there that he met and collided with big-time Indians prospect Carlos Santana, who was attempting to block the plate with his left leg. Kalish ran into the leg, bending it backwards and sending Santana into a heap.

Santana gives small wave to Sox dugout, where players are applauding him, as cart drives past
Will Carroll believes that the leg is probably broken at the very least, and while we don’t have any word on the extent of the injury just yet, it’s safe to say that Santana’s breakthrough 2010 season has probably come to a premature close. If that’s the case, he will finish with a .260 average and an OPS close to .900.
Santana was replaced in the game by Chris Gimenez.
