NCAA Bracket Update: Thursday’s NCAA Tournament Scores Reveal New Field

NCAA bracket 2012 is here.

With a full day of 2011 NCAA Tournament scores in the books, the NCAA bracket is somewhat upset-filled, as double-digit seeds prevailed early. Louisville and Vanderbilt were the early victims as Morehead State and Richmond prevailed in the Southwest region.

The latest printable NCAA Tournament 2011 bracket can be found here.

To recap, West Virginia opened the day with an easy win over Clemson. The dam broke in the next set of games, though, as clutch shots and buzzer-beaters were prevalent. Matt Howard nailed a buzzer-beater to give Butler a 60-58 win over Old Dominion. Shortly thereafter, Demonte Harper’s late three-pointer gave us the first big upset of the tournament as Morehead State dropped Louisville, 62-61. The hits kept rolling as Juan Fernandez hit a leaning jumper in the finals seconds to give Temple a 66-64 win over Penn State. If that wasn’t enough, Brandon Knight’s driving lay-in helped Kentucky escape Princeton, 59-57.

The action cooled off during the rest of the day, but there were a few more upsets to speak of. Richmond hung on to dump Vanderbilt in the early evening, 69-66. Gonzaga also took down St. John’s in a romp, 86-71, in a late-night game.
