The Final Four is complete and we're pretty sure it isn't the one you picked in your brackets. It's already crazy enough that 5-seed UConn and 8-seed Butler were already en route to Houston. It's that much more crazy now that 11-seed VCU is on their way as well. Joined by Kentucky, the NCAA Finals are guaranteed to be a 2nd-straight David vs. Goliath scenario. Though considering what we've seen in this tournament, don't think that being Goliath is any advantage.
The updated 2011 NCAA Tournament printable bracket can be found here.
It wasn't just that VCU won, it was the way they thoroughly-dominated one-seed Kansas on their way to winning the Southwest region. As for Kentucky, the Wildcats emerged from the gritty East Region after a hard-fought victory over two-seed North Carolina.
And so, we bid farewell to Newark, Anaheim, San Antonio and New Orleans farewell and we make our way to Houston. It's hard to say we expected any of the four teams heading to the Final Four to be there. Especially Butler and VCU. However that's what makes the NCAA Tournament what it is. Conferences, regular-season records and rankings mean nothing and winning one game at a time is the only thing that does.
