The New York Rangers are sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference after losing to the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night. They are looking to move back into seventh place with a win against the New York Islanders on Thursday.
Islanders Vs. Rangers: NHL Playoff Implications For Rangers In Crosstown Rivalry
The New York Rangers have had the Islanders number this season, winning the last four matchups the teams have met and the last three by a combined score of 15-5. The Rangers had a scare last night when goaltender Henrik Lundqvist went down with what appeared to be a minor leg injury against the Sabres. Lundqvist shook it off to finish the game and will play against the Islanders tonight as well.
The New York Islanders will have goaltender Al Montoya in net to start. The only start that Montoya has had against the Rangers was a 6-3 loss on March 15th. Matt Moulson, PA Parenteau, and Blake Comeau lead the Islanders with three goals a piece against the Rangers in the season series.
Game time is 7 p.m. Eastern. For more information on this game please visit our Rangers site, Blueshirt Banter, and our Islanders site, Lighthouse Hockey.
