The New York Islanders found their offense in the second period with four goals against in their matchup against the New York Rangers on Thursday night.

Blake Comeau got the scoring started in the second at 3:24. Comeau picked up a rebound from a Josh Bailey shot and put it past Henrik Lundqvist. Radek Martinek scored 33 seconds later to give the Islanders a 2-1 lead. The Islanders offense took a break until Joe Joensuu scored at the 13:28 mark of the second period. PA Parenteau scored 1:16 later in the second to give the Islanders the 4-1 lead they finished the period with.
The Islanders outshot the Rangers 11-7 in the period and have outshot the Rangers 22-16 thus far in the game. The Rangers are going to need a really good period to get themselves back in this game and keep their chances of making the playoffs relatively high. With a loss to the Islanders, the Rangers chances of making the playoffs would drop 8% according to Sports Club Stats.
