Mitchell Boggs, Cards’ Closer In April, Now Starting In Triple-A

Boggs did not fare particularly well as a starter in the minors, failing to crack the 2.00 strikeout-to-walk barrier in any of his three Double- and Triple-A seasons. Which is presumably why the Cardinals made him a full-time reliever in 2010.

Skip Schumaker’s Elbow Injury Not Healing Quickly
Two weeks ago, Cardinals second baseman Skip Schumaker was supposed to miss three or four weeks with an elbow injury. Well, it’s still possible that he’ll miss four weeks, but it might turn into six.

Skip Schumaker Injury To Send Cardinals Infielder To DL
Over 59 plate appearances, Schumaker has batted .241 with four doubles and a homer. Greene and Descalso shouldn’t have too much trouble filling in for his bat for however long he’s out, which shouldn’t be much more than the minimum 15 days at most.
