Two weeks ago, Cardinals second baseman Skip Schumaker was supposed to miss three or four weeks with an elbow injury. Well, it’s still possible that he’ll miss four weeks, but it might turn into six.
Skip Schumaker’s Elbow Injury Not Healing Quickly
From Rick Hummel (via stltoday.com):
According to general manager John Mozeliak, Schumaker, who has been out more than two weeks already, will be out anywhere from two to four more weeks.
—snip—
Schumaker, on the other hand, said he was hopeful of being back inside two weeks. Awaiting clearance from Dr. George Paletta, the team’s medical supervisor, Schumaker said he was waiting to throw and hit any day now.
With third baseman David Freese out for a long while and Schumaker on the DL, Tony La Russa’s turned to Nick Punto, Daniel Descalso, and now perhaps Tyler Greene to man second and third. The Cardinals sport the best run differential in the National League, but Schumaker’s eventual return will make La Russa’s dreams just a bit more pleasant.
