Grady Sizemore Injury: Indians Outfielder Out 4-6 Weeks After Abdominal Surgery
The shame here is that Sizemore’s recent knee injury didn’t seem so bad, with an MRI not revealing significant damage. Sizemore himself sais that the problem wasn’t serious, and it looked like he’d make a fairly quick recovery. But this surgery obviously pushes back his timetable a little more.

Well, this is starting to get old. From SB Nation Cleveland:
Since then, not so much. From May 1 through today, Sizemore’s batted .203/.274/.380, with a couple of weeks on the DL in that stretch. While it seemed that the Indians need Sizemore to contend, they’re still in first place despite him contributing very little since April. So there seems little point in rushing him back, and this stint on the disabled list might last longer than two weeks.

Sizemore injured his knee sliding into second base. If there was a positive to the injury, it’s that it was to his right knee, and not the left, which was the knee that caused him to miss most of last season.
Though there was a large discussion about player/base contact, in the wake of the Cleveland star’s injury, MLB eventually decided that touching second base is an important and necessary part of the game, and there will no rule changes at this time.

Official news from the Cleveland Indians about center fielder Grady Sizemore, and it’s good:
At least one early “report” suggested that Sizemore was favoring his right knee like he used to favor his left knee, the injury to which cost him most of last season. So “contusion” obviously sounds a lot better than just about anything else this might have been.
