Grady Sizemore’s MRI Comes Back Clean

Official news from the Cleveland Indians about center fielder Grady Sizemore, and it’s good:

Grady Sizemore update: Mri confirms no structural damage to right knee. Day to day with a right knee contusion

At least one early “report” suggested that Sizemore was favoring his right knee like he used to favor his left knee, the injury to which cost him most of last season. So “contusion” obviously sounds a lot better than just about anything else this might have been.

The Indians did well before Sizemore returned to the lineup a month ago, but his .641 slugging percentage has obviously done a lot to help them stay in first place. After Wednesday’s action, Cleveland’s lead over the Tigers did shrink to 4-1/2 games, and a fair number of things will have to go well for them finish the season on top. Two of those things are probably Sizemore and Travis Hafner staying reasonably healthy for another four-and-a-half months.
