It was bad enough when Braves starter Brandon Beachy injured his oblique while batting on Friday. Oblique injuries are the new hot thing, and they generally require a DL stint to heal. Sure enough, Beachy was placed on the disabled list Saturday morning. But as if that weren't enough, here's Fredi Gonzalez with more:
Brandon Beachy Injury To Keep Starter Out At Least A Month
Fredi Gonzalez said #Braves' Beachy would likely be out at least a month, as it's a significant oblique injury
So Beachy doesn’t have the standard oblique strain. He’s got something a little worse, and while it isn’t going to end his season or anything, it will keep him out longer than was initially expected.
From the sounds of things, Beachy's replacement in the rotation will be prospect Julio Teheran. Mike Minor is another option, but Minor is starting a game on Sunday, making it unlikely that the Braves would call him up to take Beachy's spot.
Because of some scheduled off days, the Braves will be able to skip Beachy’s replacement a few times if desired.
