New York Mets third baseman David Wright broke his back a couple of months ago, and now he has returned. Remember that when you think you had a bad day at work. But according to the Mets' official Twitter feed and Amazin' Avenue, Wright is off the DL and in the lineup tonight:
David Wright Returns From Disabled List
David Wright has completed his rehab assignment and will rejoin the Mets in time for Friday’s game vs FloridaWell, technically it was a stress fracture in his back, which isn’t quite as dramatic, and Wright ended up missing just over two months. Before going on the DL, Wright was struggling, hitting .190/.358/.310 in May, which is sort of like Eddie Gaedel without the power.
But he's a better hitter than that, and the Mets have been starting both Dan Murphy (who has been doing well) and Justin Turner (not so much) in the infield in Wright's absence. With the All-Star third baseman coming back, Murphy will likely move over to second, leaving Turner on the bench. But, really, there are a lot of options that the Mets can play around with, including putting Murphy at first and Lucas Duda in left, as they're doing on Friday night.
