Earlier Friday, the anticipated landfall of Hurricane Irene somewhere near the New York City area on Sunday morning had caused the New York Mets to postpone Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Braves, and move the starting time of Saturday’s game up to 1 p.m. ET (from its original 4 p.m. ET time).

Now, Dave O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports via Twitter that Saturday’s Mets/Braves game has also been called off:
OK, now they’ve cancelled the #Braves Saturday game as well, because the subways being shut down at noon. So we’ve got 1 game tonight, folks

Saturday & Sunday’s games will be made up as part of a single-admission doubleheader on Thursday, September 8 starting at 4:10 pmFor now, though, the concern is for everyone to stay safe as this dangerous storm approaches.
