Out here in Portland, Oregon, we had just another bright, sunny, cloudless day. It was almost too nice. But it turns out that, back east, things are really terrible, and Hurricane Irene just continues to wreak havoc on the Major League Baseball schedule. The latest victims: the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees.
Hurricane Irene Postpones Yankees/Orioles Doubleheader
Both games tomorrow have been postponed. #nyy
Previously, the Orioles and the Yankees were to play two games on Saturday, and one game on Sunday. Now they will play no games on Saturday, two games on Sunday, and - possibly, probably - one game on Thursday, September 8, which was a mutual off day.
What this means for the Orioles is that, after Saturday, they should have one off day remaining on the schedule. For the Yankees, after Saturday, they also should have one off day remaining on the schedule. Coincidentally, just before the expected make-up game, the Orioles play a three-game series against the Yankees in New York from September 5-7.
