Hurricane Irene Causes A Second Marlins/Phillies Postponement

On Thursday, the Philadelphia Phillies announced that their scheduled game on Sunday at Citizens Bank Park against the Florida Marlins would be moved to Saturday at 1:05 p.m. ET, as the first game of a split doubleheader.

Now, with the storm getting closer, that will be the only game played on Saturday, according to the Phillies’ official Twitter account:

Game on Saturday, Aug 27 at 7:05 has been postponed due to threat of severe weather. Game will be made up on Thursday, Sept 15th. Time TBD.

So the Marlins and Phillies will play Friday night and then Saturday afternoon before both teams — and all Philadelphians — take shelter from the approaching storm.

Stay with this StoryStream for more information on any postponements or reschedulings of baseball games due to the approach of Hurricane Irene. And please, if you are in the areas that might be affected by this massive storm, stay safe.
