The New York Giants and the New York Jets will need to wait until Monday to play their annual preseason game. It will now take place at 7:00 p.m. ET, two days after it was originally scheduled. Earlier on Friday, Hurricane Irene had forced the game from its original start time of 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday to 2:00 p.m. ET the same day.
Hurricane Irene Postpones Jets-Giants Game Until Monday Night
With many states along the eastern seaboard declaring state’s of emergency, many other sporting events have already been canceled or postponed. Both New Jersey and New York are under states of emergency and have decided to shut down public transportation systems at noon on Saturday. That would adversely affect anyone who travels to and from MetLife Stadium by way of both of those systems.
Given the predicted intensity of the storm, we’ll need to see how the area is on Monday if they can get the game in.
