Towards the back end of last season, Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon that finished off his season. Due to the serious nature of that injury, Persa was never going to be a guarantee to start the opening game for the Northwestern Wildcats, but fans were optimistic. Persa was previously listed as questionable, but has now been confirmed out for Nortwestern Football's season opener against the Boston College Eagles. Both ESPN Gameday and CBS's Eye On College Football reported the news early Saturday morning.
Dan Persa Injury: Northwestern QB Out For Boston College Game
Northwestern QB Dan Persa has been ruled OUT (achilles) for Boston College
This injury will be a massive blow for Northwestern, who do not have an experienced backup. Stepping in on Saturday will be sophomore quarterback Kain Colter, who has not thrown a pass in his college football career. Persa was fantastic before his injury last season, completing an outstanding 73.5 percent of his passes, but his team went 0-3 without him. If Persa can't come back from this injury shortly, Northwestern's chances of making a bowl game will start to look slim very quickly.
