Northwestern starting quarterback Dan Persa is listed as questionable for Saturday's opener against Boston College. Persa is still recovering from the ruptured Achilles tendon he suffered last season against Iowa. If he is unable to play, sophomore Kain Colter will earn the starting nod.
Dan Persa Injury: Northwestern QB Listed As Questionable For Saturday’s Opener
Northwestern will turn to the untested Kain Colter at quarterback if Dan Persa is unable to play.
Persa set a Big Ten record last season completing 73.5 percent of his passes through 10 games. His injury proved disastrous last season, with the Wildcats going 0-3 with Persa out of the lineup. Northwestern created a website, PersaStrong, to promote Persa as a darkhorse Heisman candidate.
Colter has yet to throw a pass for his college career. Northwestern has hopes of making some noise in the Big Ten this season, but without Persa that task will be daunting.
