The Chicago Bears finished the 2011 season with a disappointing 8-8 record and finished the season with five straight losses before winning their last game against the Vikings. Jay Cutler wasn't able to finish the season as he only played in 10 games and running back Matt Forte could only make it on the field for 12 games. The Bears completely fell apart when their starting quarterback or running back weren't in the game. They're very dependent on both players so finding quality depth will be important this year.
Bears Free Agency 2012: Chicago Needs Wide Receivers
When it comes to free agents likely leaving the Windy City, backup quarterback Caleb Hanie will likely find a new home as will wide receiver Roy Williams. The Bears used their franchise tag to keep Forte in town, which was a smart move.
The biggest need for the Bears is at wide receiver. One of Cutler's problems is that he has nobody to throw to. He's got a huge arm and finding a guy that knows how to stretch the field would be a huge boost. The Bears would really benefit from signing a guy like Vincent Jackson or going after restricted Steelers free agent Mike Wallace. Other free agent wide receivers include Jerome Simpson, Mario Manningham and Marques Colston. The Bears also might want to invest in a good backup quarterback considering Caleb Hanie's play last year.
