49ers vs. Seahawks game recap: Seattle deflates San Fran in 42-13 win

The Seattle Seahawks handled the San Francisco 49ers at home, claiming a lopsided victory to continue their four-game hot streak.

The Seattle Seahawks continued their impressive play at home this season with a dominating, 42-13 win over the division rival San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

Seattle landed the first punch with two touchdowns in the first quarter on Marshawn Lynch's end-zone run and receiving score. After shutting down 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the offense in the first period, it appeared San Francisco would finally get on the board on David Akers' field goal. The Seahawks, however, blocked the attempt and Richard Sherman returned the loose ball 90 yards for a touchdown to put Seattle up 21-0.

The 49ers could only muster two Akers’ field goals and a garbage time score by Delanie Walker. Kaepernick had trouble finding receivers against the Seahawks’ tight coverage all game, finishing with 244 yards, one touchdown and an interception on a less-than-efficient 19-for-36.

With the victory, Seattle moves to 10-5 overall and 7-0 at home, as well as locking up a playoff spot. The 49ers fall to 10-4-1 and get leapfrogged by the Green Bay Packers, who move into the No. 2 seed for now.

Fantasy studs and duds

After recording four total touchdowns last week, Russell Wilson amassed four more scores against the 49ers, all in the air game. He also threw an interception and had a modest 171 passing yards and 29 rushing yards.

In the running game, Marshawn Lynch totaled 111 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. He also grabbed two balls for 19 yards and a score, marking his first receiving score of the season.

Injury report

San Francisco suffered a pair of key injuries to their offense with tight end Vernon Davis exiting with a concussion and wideout Mario Manningham suffering a knee injury. Neither returned to the game, leaving the 49ers receiving corps thin.

Did they cover?

With the blowout, Seattle easily covered as 2.5-point favorites.

What’s next?

The Seahawks put their four-game winning streak on the line when they host the St. Louis Rams in Week 17. San Francisco wraps up its regular season in a meeting with the Arizona Cardinals at home.
