49ers vs. Seahawks, Week 16: Fans witness worst San Fran performance of year

Things couldn’t have been worse for the San Francisco 49ers in the loss to their division foes in a crucial game regarding playoff seeding.

Following a big win on the road in Foxboro last week, the San Francisco 49ers came out and disappointed with a lackluster performance, losing 42-13 to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.

Not only were the 49ers outplayed on both sides of the ball, but left the contest with injuries to key players. Tight end Vernon Davis was the first causality, exiting the game with a concussion in the first half. Then, wide receiver Mario Manningham suffered a knee injury (and fumbled) on a play in the third quarter. Neither player returned to the game, which was probably for the best considering San Francisco was basically out of contention by halftime.

Overall, it was just a dismal game to watch for 49ers fans, according to Niners Nation:

Well, that sucked. This game really could not have gone any worse. Any other bad things happening would have just been repetition of previous bad events. This might have been the worst football game I have ever watched.

As far as playoff seeding, the loss could potentially cost San Francisco a bye and home-field advantage in the divisional round. With the Green Bay Packers winning on Sunday, they now occupy the No. 2 seed with a 11-4 record, holding one game in the win column over the 49ers.
