With Hopkins at 48 years old and Cloud’s stamina somewhat suspect, there was no certainty of what would happen in the late rounds of the fight. But Hopkins managed to still land some slick combinations, getting in with some single shots and some two punch combos while making Cloud chase and miss.
Cloud’s momentum from round eight was quelled a bit here, with Hopkins moving and moving and not letting Cloud sit down on his punches. Hopkins went back to working his jab before letting go with a right hand.
Cloud has been unable to pressure Hopkins for full rounds successfully to this point, allowing Hopkins to pick and choose when to engage and not being forced to turn old in the process.
This seemed to me like a clear Hopkins round.
