Matt Forte leaves with knee injury; Bears, fantasy owners must worry
The star Chicago running back left Sunday with what is believed to be an MCL injury. We break down the fantasy implications.

Before leaving the game, Forte had 10 carries for 41 yards and four catches for 28 more. He was ruled out in the fourth quarter. In his stead, Jeremy Langford took over the team’s primary running back role, carrying the ball 12 times for 46 yards. For the season now, Forte has 548 rushing yards, 219 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Fantasy impact: We’ll know for sure whether Forte’s injury is an MCL tear Monday, when the running back will likely go for an MRI. It seems likely at the least that the Bears star has avoided an ACL tear, which would have meant the end of his season. If it is indeed an MCL tear, that would likely mean he’d miss at least a few weeks.
The injury also kills whatever small chance existed that Forte might have been traded. Fantasy owners who are stuck waiting will look first to Langford. In limited time this year, Langford has two rushing touchdowns, but only 80 rushing yards on 27 carries, just under three yards a carry. He’s definitely not Forte, but with the strength of the rest of the Chicago offense, Langford as a starter would be a fantasy starter or close.
