Chicago Bears rookie running back Jeremy Langford could see a spike in his usage going forward after the team’s star running back, Matt Forte, left Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the Minnesota Vikings with a knee injury.
Fantasy football waiver wire advice: Jeremy Langford primed as Matt Forte fill-in
A plethora of Week 8 injuries could bring a host of little-owned names into the picture, including the Chicago rookie running back.

Forte left Sunday’s game in the third quarter. Langford ended up carrying the ball 12 times in the game for 46 yards. The rookie had only 15 carries on the season before Sunday; the Bears have been one of the teams most reliant on a single running back for years now.
Fantasy impact: The early indication on Forte’s injury is that the star hurt his MCL, dodging an ACL tear that would have ended his season. Still, an MCL issue could sideline the star for a few weeks or more.
The Bears also have Ka’Deem Carey and Antone Smith in the fold, and both would be involved in the offense along with Langford for however long Forte is out. That said, Langford appears primed to have first crack at the role, and if he does well to start, he could have it all to himself during Forte’s absence. The rookie is averaging just under three yards a carry so far, so he’ll need to improve, but for now, he needs to be added in just about all leagues.
