Rob Gronkowski, Lamar Miller, and the most impactful injuries for Week 11 in the NFL

The impact gets greater as the season grows older.

There are some big names out for Week 11 in the NFL, but none bigger than Rob Gronkowski, who will miss the New England Patriots matchup with the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.

The Pittsburgh Steelers took a huge hit earlier this week when defensive end Cam Heyward announced he would be out for the season. He’s likely headed for injured reserve.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without wide receiver Jeremy Maclin again. He also missed last Sunday’s comeback victory over the Panthers.

Now, let’s look at the most impactful injuries for Week 11 in the NFL.

1) Alfred Blue, Lamar Miller, and Will Fuller vs. Raiders

The Houston Texans offense is unquestionably their biggest weakness. The Oakland Raiders defense isn’t great, though. Yet if Blue, Miller, and Fuller can’t play, that could be disastrous for the Texans in their Monday Night Football matchup in Mexico City. The only good news appears to come with Miller.

Bill O’Brien told reporters Friday that Blue will not play on Monday night. Fuller, on the other hand, will be a game-time decision. Fuller missed last week’s game with the same leg injury, but O’Brien reportedly likes his odds.

Status: Blue is out, and Miller and Fuller are both active.

2) Timmy Jernigan vs. Cowboys

Jernigan’s having a good year for a Ravens team that ranks first in the league in total defense. He’s got five sacks on the season at defensive tackle, and this week, they’ve got the biggest story in the league on the other side of the field, the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott.

Jernigan has yet to miss a game this season, but he’s nursing a shoulder injury that kept him out of practice earlier this week. He was limited on Friday and will be active on Sunday, but may be hampered on the field.

Status: Active for Week 11.

3) Mike Pouncey vs. Rams

Pouncey had a hip issue that become known during Wednesday’s practice, and he hasn’t been back on the field since then. He’s reportedly seen a specialist about the injury that has the Dolphins concerned.

Losing Pouncey would be an especially big problem for the Dolphins, who played poorly earlier this season as they went through various lineups of offensive linemen. Their left tackle Branden Albert is already out with a wrist injury, so things might only be getting worse in Miami.

A week against the Rams might help, but time will tell.

Status: He’s out today, but not long term.

4) Marcus Peters vs. Buccaneers

Peters missed all three practices this week due to a hip injury, and his status for Sunday isn’t looking good as the Chiefs try to stay in the AFC West race for first place.

Not having Peters this particular Sunday would hurt, as the Chiefs defense will look to slow down Mike Evans, who has been one of the best receivers in the NFL this season. Peters has five picks on the year, and it would be a blow to the secondary against Jameis Winston and Evans.

Status: Peters won’t play in Week 11.

5) Patrick Robinson vs. Titans

Robinson did not participate in practice on Friday because of a groin injury, and the Colts have had tons of trouble at the cornerback position this season. They’re going up against a Titans team that just torched the Packers last week.

Indianapolis is already behind the Texans and Titans in the standings, so a loss here would be monumental for the Colts moving forward. It won’t put them out of the race, but it’s always tough coming from behind in these situations.

Status: Inactive.

6) Zach Ertz and Jordan Matthews vs. Seahawks

There might not be a worse week to go up against the Seahawks. They’re doing what they do seemingly every year: hitting their stride in the second half of the season. It will be a big test for rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, and with a pair of injuries to Ertz and Matthews, it could be even tougher.

The fact that Ertz is practicing is a good sign. Matthews is suffering from a back injury that apparently happened in the weight room on Tuesday, but our friends at Bleeding Green Nation believe both will be good to go.

Status: Both are active.

7) Tyrann Mathieu vs. Vikings

Mathieu had a shoulder injury that kept him out of last week’s game against the 49ers. He took steps toward getting back on the field this week as the Cards take on the struggling Vikings.

Head coach Bruce Arians said on Friday that Mathieu would be a game-time decision, and Mathieu was declared out on Sunday morning. Another week of rest might not hurt with the way the Vikings have been playing.

Status: Out

8) Marcell Dareus vs. Bengals

Dareus, like many players it seems, has a groin injury. The Bills are already expecting defensive tackle Corbin Bryant to be out of the game, and to have Dareus out on top of that would be tough against a Bengals team looking to rebound from a rough Monday night loss to the Giants.

Rex Ryan likes Dareus’ chances of playing Sunday, but with these types of injuries, you can never be too certain. Dareus has only played in one game this year, and he had a sack to go along with four tackles. He’ll play against the Bengals, but may not be 100 percent.

Status: Will play.

9) DeSean Jackson vs. Packers

Washington’s got a great opportunity on Sunday to take advantage of a reeling Packers team. It could be more difficult if Jackson isn’t able to go. He’s dealing with a shoulder injury that caused him to miss last week’s game.

Jackson practiced on Friday, which is a good sign. But Jay Gruden wants to make sure he’s fine. “We have six receivers that are on our 53 right now that we feel really good about,” Gruden said. “We’ll see how he does in pregame warmups; we’ll make sure.

Status: He’s playing.

10) Damarious Randall & T.J. Lang vs. Washington

The Green Bay Packers have not looked good the past few weeks. They’ve lost three in a row and head to Washington on Sunday for their second of three road games. Randall and Lang are key pieces on their respective sides of the ball.

Mike McCarthy will hope that both are able to go, as he tries to save his job.

Status: Both are inactive.
