The Minnesota Vikings’ offense has struggled to get going in recent weeks, so they dug deep in the playbook to strike for a big play against the Arizona Cardinals.
Vikings gained 30 yards on an end-around flea-flicker pass interference trifecta
The trick play didn’t end with a pretty touchdown, but it still set up the Vikings for a go-ahead score.
With Jerick McKinnon lined up at quarterback, the running back took a direct snap and handed off to Cordarrelle Patterson on an end-around, who then pitched it back to Sam Bradford, who started the play split out wide at receiver.
All the trickery led to a 30-yard pass that was knocked away, but a pass interference call set up the Vikings near the goal line. Matt Asiata was able to bulldoze ahead for a 2-yard touchdown on the next play to give the Vikings a 13-10 lead.
The Vikings entered Week 11 scoring an average of 14 points in four straight losses, but have found offense early against the Cardinals. Bradford has completed six of seven passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, while McKinnon has found 28 rushing yards on seven carries.
