C.J. Prosise suffers scapula injury, expected to be out up to 8 weeks

Pete Carroll said he will be back before the end of the season.

The Seattle Seahawks seem to have found a new star at running back in rookie C.J. Prosise. He had a big game last week against the New England Patriots, and got off to an electrifying start this week against the Eagles with a 72-yard touchdown run.

That excitement was halted, however, when Prosise left their game against the Eagles with a shoulder injury in the first half. Prosise was evaluated in the locker room at halftime, and did not come out for the start of the second half, or for the rest of the game.

After the game, Pete Carroll told reporters that Prosise has a scapula issue, and will be out a while. Carroll added that he will return before the end of the season.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo gave an estimate for a timetable on Prosise’s return:

Coming into Sunday’s game, the Seahawks were averaging 77.7 yards per game on the ground, and had already produced 112 in the first half, mostly thanks to Prosise’s 76 yards on just four carries.

In the five quarters of play since last week, Prosise totaled 233 yards on 27 touches.

Sunday, the Seahawks eventually got so thin at running back, that Trevone Boykin had to take snaps at running back.

They’ll hope to have Prosise back sooner rather than later, after the promise that he showed.
