Washington’s offense proved to be too much for an injury-depleted Green Bay defense, and they improved to 6-3-1 after a win over the Packers on Sunday Night Football.
Packers vs. Washington 2016 final score: Kirk Cousins and the offense got the best of Green Bay in 42-24 win
The Packers fall to 4-6 after Sunday’s loss.

The Packers fall to 4-6, and the expectations surrounding Green Bay coming into the season have all but evaporated.
“Six losses puts your ass against the wall, and that’s where we are,” Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said after the loss.
The loss wasn’t on Rodgers, as he completed 26 of 41 passes for 351 yards and three touchdowns. He threw zero interceptions, and the only time Rodgers fumbled, he recovered the ball himself.
Rodgers also managed to get the ball to Jordy Nelson in the end zone despite Washington safety Su’a Cravens grabbing him by the facemask. It was a valiant effort from Rodgers, who took two sacks.
Green Bay’s defense, however, struggled to contain the Washington offense. Kirk Cousins finished the day with 375 yards and three touchdowns, with no turnovers. On the ground, “Fat Rob” Kelley led the charge with 137 yards and three rushing touchdowns.
Washington did go for two twice, which didn’t make a ton of sense at the time despite the fact that it was very windy, but when Washington’s kicker Dustin Hopkins attempted a PAT late in the fourth quarter, it doinked off of the goal post. It was the 12th extra point missed in the NFL on Sunday.
Despite struggling to contain the Washington offense, the Packers were still in the game until a Jared Cook fumble with just over three minutes left was recovered by Washington. Washington turned Nelson’s fumble into seven more points with Kelley’s third rushing touchdown, extending its lead to 42-24.
Green Bay replaced Rodgers with Brett Hundley late in the game, and Hundley was responsible for a tipped ball that was intercepted by Washington’s Martrell Spaight with a minute and a half remaining. The pick sealed the game in Washington’s favor. Washington’s owner, Dan Snyder, was very happy about it.
The Packers lost several defensive players to injury during the game, including linebacker Blake Martinez, safety Kentrell Brice and cornerback Demetri Goodson. Nick Perry was removed from the game and ruled questionable to return, but he did manage to get back on the field.
Ultimately, Washington’s offense proved to be more than Green Bay’s depleted defense could handle.
