Things didn’t go quite as Lindsey Vonn had hoped during her alpine skiing debut in the 2018 Winter Games, but despite missing out on a super-g medal, she’s still got a shot to win some hardware from the downhill final Tuesday night.

What to watch in the Olympics, updated medal count, and more.

Vonn’s expectations were high coming into, what is expected to be, the last Olympic Games of her career, but she will need a much better run if she wants to make the podium in her final two of three total events.
“It’s all or nothing,” Vonn said after her training run, according to NBC. “There’s nothing to be nervous about or think about pressure or expectations. Either I win or I lose.”
Vonn wasn’t the only big name skier expected to hit the slope for the women’s downhill event. Mikaela Shiffrin was also set to compete. Coming into the games, Shiffrin was scheduled to compete in five events, but due to high winds delaying the beginning of her competition schedule, she’s since dropped out of the super-g and now the downhill race. Vonn and Shiffrin will finally share the slope in the women’s combined later in the week, for their first direct competition of the Olympics — which very much feels like a passing of the baton from the current “Speed Queen” to the future one.
Before and after the women’s downhill final, the women for Team USA will take the ice for the figure skating short program. The first of two events — followed by the free skate on Thursday — will set the stage for what is expected to be a fierce competition. The United States has three athletes vying to add their name to figure skating legends as American Olympic medal winners: Bradie Tennell (expected to skate at 8:08 p.m. ET), Mirai Nagasu (approx. 10:52 p.m. ET), and Karen Chen (approx. 11:05 p.m. ET).
If you need something to bounce to during commercials, over on CNBC, the United States will be facing off against the Czech Republic in the men’s hockey quarterfinal. Thanks to a crazy run by Ryan Donato, Team USA pulled out a 5-1 win over Slovakia on Monday, and have just a few challenges left between them and an Olympic medal.
You can find live streaming of all events at NBC’s Olympics site.

Which Winter Olympic medals are up for grabs today?
Team USA is back in the No. 5 spot among medal-winning countries after claiming a few more over the weekend, now sitting at 12 total (five gold, three silver, four bronze). Sitting atop the Pyeongchang 2018 leaderboard, are Norway (28), Germany (20), Canada (19), and the Netherlands (14).
With Tuesday night’s event schedule including some of the biggest names representing the United States, there’s a chance we start creaping up on the top four. The only medal up for grabs tonight, will be in the women’s alpine skiing downhill final (9 p.m. ET). The men’s freestyle skiing ski cross final (12:35 a.m. ET) is also tonight, but Team USA doesn’t have any skiers in the competition.
Setting the stage for some additional medals, are the men’s snowboard big air qualifiers and the women’s figure skating short program. The United States has dominated most of the snowboarding events thus far at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and the big air competition could be another multi-medal opportunity.
