Week 3 QB fantasy football rankings including injury news, sleepers, more

Welcome to Week 3 of the NFL season. It has been a weird start, with injuries and disjointed offenses being the norm. Of course, the Saints are on a tear offensively, just like everyone figured. Your top two fantasy quarterbacks so far are Baker Mayfield and Derek Carr! They’ve earned those fantasy points, but it’s a long season. Other offenses besides the Saints and Bucs will get their acts together, but there is no doubt that offense as a whole is just sub par in the NFL right now.

Love is dealing with a knee injury that should keep him out three games, but head coach Matt LeFleur is doing his best to keep opponents wondering if Love will be able to go earlier. With Malik Willis under center last week, the Packers ran the ball like an Army-Navy game and came out with the win. A good defense should be able to stop a one-dimensional offense like that, but the Colts weren’t up for the challenge. I’d expect Willis to get the nod again this week and we’ll see if the Titans can slow down Josh Jacobs and company to push Willis to throw more than 14 times.

Wilson continues to deal with his calf injury, which should keep Justin Fields as the starter again in Week 3. Tomlin doesn’t have to make a decision between Wilson and Fields due to Wilson’s injury, but at 2-0, Fields has done enough to keep the job. He gets a home game this week against the Chargers. If he can have a good game and come out with a win, it likely won’t matter how Wilson’s calf feels moving forward.

Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2 and has no timetable for a return at this point. Skylar Thompson will get the start in Seattle this week and hopefully we’ll know more about Tua’s timetable and if he is going to go on I.R. or not.

Young wasn’t injured, but he has looked overmatched to start the season. That has led to the first round pick being benched and Andy Dalton coming in to start Week 3 in Las Vegas. Dalton should be an upgrade for the receivers, but we should also continue to temper expectations for the group.

The Rams continue to lose defenders to injuries and they’re already one of the worst defenses in the league statistically at this early point. Kyler Murray destroyed them last week, as he put up a perfect passer rating while getting to take some time off in a blowout after scoring 28.5 fantasy points. The NFL just requested his uniform from that game for Canton.

Purdy has looked fine, but injuries and two tough matchups have his numbers looking extra weak this season. I expect things to turn around against the Rams and their generous defense this week.

Carr will get a home game against an Eagles team that hasn’t played like we thought they could in a long while. Will they turn things around? Probably, at least enough to be in the playoff race maybe, but they aren’t a team to fear. While the Saints are hitting on all cylinders with Klint Kubiak guiding the offense. Ride the Saints offense while you can.
