Colorado to interview Butch Jones; Dan Mullen and Jim Grobe reportedly on list

The latest rumored candidate to interview for the Buffaloes’ vacant head coaching job is Cincinnati’s Butch Jones.

The Colorado Buffaloes are casting a full net in looking for their next head coach to replace the recently fired Jon Embree. Cincinnati Bearcats head coach Butch Jones is expected to be interviewed by Colorado early next week, according to the Daily Camera's Kyle Ringo.

In addition to interviewing Jones next week, Ringo is also reporting that Colorado has interest in Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen and Wake Forest’s Jim Grobe.

Jones has had a successful coaching career which started in 2007 at Central Michigan, where he won a pair of MAC conference titles to go along with a 27-13 record over three years. He then improved his job status by taking over at Cincinnati. Jones’ success continued there as he won a conference title, could win another this year and has won 22 games in three years.

Jones has been connected to multiple coaching openings, which include being offered the Kentucky and Purdue jobs, both of which he has turned down. Plus, Jones has the interest of Tennessee and Auburn, so Colorado may have some competition if they are going to land Jones.

Jones does fall under the requirements that Colorado is looking for in a coach, which is that they want someone who has experience coaching in a BCS automatic qualifying conference.
