A&M announced last week that defensive backs Deshazor Everett and Floyd Raven would be suspended for violations of athletic department policies. Both Everett and Raven were charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief this summer, stemming from an April 1 incident in a College Station. Everett made his greatest impression last season in picking off Alabama quarter A.J. McCarron to seal A&M's win over Alabama. Raven made 16 tackles and intercepted one pass as a sophomore.
Harris, now a sophomore, started as a freshman but lost his starting cornerback spot midway through the year. His loss, along with Raven and Everett, leaves the Aggies’ secondary in further question.
Texas A&M will already be without quarterback Johnny Manziel for the first half of Saturday's game, a suspension resulting from a deal struck with NCAA investigators to settle allegations that Manziel signed autographs for money during the offseason.
A&M kicks off the 2013 season against the Rice Owls at Kyle Field at 1 p.m. ET.
