Texas vs. New Mexico State 2013 video highlights: Longhorns roll past Aggies

Relive the Longhorns’ big win by watching all four of their 50-plus yard touchdowns.

The 15th-ranked Texas Longhorns took care of the New Mexico State Aggies with ease after a slow start Saturday, winning 56-7 after trailing 7-0 in the second quarter. Neither team managed to score in the first quarter, and it was the Aggies who got on the board first with an 11-yard touchdown pass from Andrew McDonald to Joshua Bowen.

Texas quarterback David Ash responded by scoring four of the next five touchdowns (the lone outlier was a Daje Johnson run) as the Longhorns blew the game open. The Aggies got the first touchdown, but the next eight were all Texas.

Ash finished 20-of-28 with 343 yards and four touchdowns through the air, also running eight times for 91 yards for a touchdown. As a team, Texas gained 715 total yards on the day, nearly 400 more than its opponent.

The Longhorns’ offense was impressively balanced, gaining 356 yards in the air and 359 yards on the ground. Of the team’s eight touchdowns, only one came on a play of fewer than 20 yards. Four were on plays of 50 yards or more.

Make sure to check in with Burnt Orange Nation for the Texas analysis. Here’s the full highlight video, where you can see all of the Longhorns’ big plays.
