The Oregon Ducks had the game well in hand within minutes against Nicholls State, and coasted to a 66-3 win at Autzen. The Ducks rolled up 761 yards of total offense, which is a new school record. To make things even crazier, Oregon had the ball for less than 20 minutes.
Nicholls State vs. Oregon 2013 game recap: Ducks annihilate Colonels, 66-3
The Ducks dominated from the opening kick, setting a new school record for total offense en route to a 66-3 win over Nicholls State.

The scoring opened quickly, with De'Anthony Thomas scoring less than two minutes into the game. The Ducks would roll up 28 points in the first quarter, and had a 38-3 lead at halftime. Mark Helfrich emptied the bench in the second half of his head coaching debut, and Oregon still piled points all over Nicholls State. Thomas, Marcus Mariota, Byron Marshall, Colt Lyerla, and Jeff Lockie each had at least one rushing touchdown, and Mariota threw for another score.
It got so bad that Oregon’s third string quarterback, Jake Rodrigues, threw a touchdown pass too. I hope Nicholls State got a big check for this game.
Box Score Hero: There are a lot of deserving players, but it has to be Mariota. He went 12-21 for 234 yards and a touchdown in the air, and rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Both De’Athony Thomas (18 for 128 and two scores) and Byron Marshall (8 for 124 and a touchdown) rushed for over 100 yards as well.
Rankings Ramifications: The Ducks started the season ranked third in both the AP and USA Today polls, and this result won’t make them rise or fall.
But Did They Cover? Oregon was a massive 58 point favorite at kickoff, but the did manage to cover that spread with their final touchdown of the day.
