Johnny Manziel’s taunting made Lou Holtz angry

The head coach turned broadcaster was not fond of Johnny Football’s actions on Saturday.

Update: We now have video of Holtz making the comments.

Remember when Johnny Manziel received a taunting penalty during Texas A&M's 52-31 win over Rice Saturday? No? There's been a ton of coverage on it, not really sure how you missed it. Here's a refresher:

Well, Lou Holtz was not pleased, as he had harsh words for Manziel on ESPN’s “Final Verdict.”

Holtz’s comments begin at around the one minute mark, and here are his exact words.

“How would I have handled it? I would have grabbed him by the throat. That’s not the right thing to do.”

His criticism was sandwiched by praise for how A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin handled the situation. Sumlin wasn’t too fond of the penalty either, benching Manziel immediately after and saying the penalty “wasn’t very smart.”

Manziel, of course, was suspended for the first half of the game, ending an NCAA investigation into whether or not he received money for signing autographs.
