While you were out Black Friday shopping and taking videos of people fighting without the common human decency to turn your phones sideways, I was watching football so you didn’t have to.
Here’s all the college football goodness you missed while you were shopping on Black Friday
Didn’t watch games on the day after Thanksgiving? No problem.

Here are the big things you missed while you were propping up capitalism with your wallet on a college football Friday.
UCF and USF played the dang game of the year ... so far.
We hoped this War On I-4 would be good because it certainly had the highest stakes the rivalry had ever seen. It absolutely did not disappoint in a 49-42 UCF win. The game had everything, and both teams traded shots in a wildly entertaining affair.
A late fumble by the Bulls while driving to tie the game gave UCF a big win. USF QB Quinton Flowers was absolutely transcendent for the Bulls, but it wasn’t enough.
The Knights’ perfect season is complete, and UCF completes a perfect regular season just two years after going 0-12. UCF heads to the AAC title game on Saturday against a Memphis team it absolutely destroyed earlier in the season.
Pitt is once again It after upsetting Miami.
A previously undefeated No. 2 team in the country playing Pitt on Thanksgiving weekend. Surely nothing could go wrong, right? Nearly 10 years to the day of West Virginia’s 13-9 capitulation to the Panthers, Miami suffered the same fate.
The Panthers beat the Canes, 24-14, at home. Malik Rosier did not play well at QB and was benched during the game. After the game Mark Richt said he’d stick with Rosier against Clemson.
The Canes grabbed two turnovers, but it was Pitt which had the last laugh and the coolest chain.
The Canes are certainly not out of the CFP race, but they’ll need to get past the Tigers in the ACC Championship game. That’s no easy task. But if Miami can win, they’ll join 2016 Clemson as a Playoff-bound team that found out Pitt isn’t an easy out.
Bret Bielema got fired in perhaps the quickest postgame canning in the sport’s history.
Arkansas fell to 4-8 after losing to Missouri, and Bret Bielema’s tenure came to an unceremonious end that many saw coming from a mile away. The firing was savage in the fact that it happened quite literally right after the game ended.
Short of firing him during the game, they got him up outta there at the first possible occasion.
REVIVALRY BRAWL
Baylor and TCU can act like they aren’t rivals til they’re blue in the face, but this fracas is the stuff all great rivalries are built on.
Texas yet again played not Texas A&M on Black Friday night.
You know when someone replaces an ingredient in a dish on the Thanksgiving table and thinks you won’t notice? That’s every year when Texas plays a team that isn’t Texas A&M on Black Friday.
The Longhorns faced off with Texas Tech, and it’s just not the same. But Texas Tech got a big win to secure bowl eligibility, and they may have secured Kliff Kingsbury another year in charge as well.
Kliff Kingsbury never seemed squarely on the hot seat. Not in the way guys like Mike Riley or Bret Bielema are on the hot seat. Kliff’s tenure just seemed like it was a redux of great offense and not-so-great defense as a recurring theme. You could certainly see a reality where Kingsbury was let go because his teams showed no progress, and that might still happen. But it may be a bit harder to justify after this season’s progress.
We also learned that Horns Down is now a penalty.
Iowa got medieval on an opponent ... again, and probably got Mike Riley in the process.
Iowa scored over 50 points again against a Power 5 team on purpose (I think).
The Hawkeyes put it down against Nebraska, and won, 56-14. Speaking of hot seats, Riley’s tenure is likely done in Lincoln.
Riley’s record at Nebraska is now 19-19. The Huskers aren’t what they used to be, but that’s woefully inadequate for a program of their stature. Riley’s firing has been inevitable for a while, and this blowout won’t do anything to make it less so.
Western Kentucky had a fake punt that was, well, something.
That punter probably wishes he was shopping with the rest of you.
