Where is the Armed Forces Bowl, and how can I watch?

Stadium and city: Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Tx.

Date and time: Dec. 23, 3:30 p.m. ET

TV and streaming: ESPN and WatchESPN

What should I know about the two teams in the Armed Forces Bowl?

Army (8-3)

The Black Knights are bowling in back-to-back seasons for just the second time in program history. Jeff Monken’s built an impressive program at West Point, where the team had made a bowl just once in this millennium before his arrival and just twice since 1989.

They were the first team to accept a specific bowl invite this season, committing in late October to play in this one. This Army team is a typical Army team, leaning on the triple-option offense to run the ball to victory. The Knights threw zero passes in a win against Air Force in Week 10, which is the most Army football thing that’s ever happened.

San Diego State (10-2, 6-2 in Mountain West)

The East Coast viewers who’ve stayed up this year to watch the Aztecs have been rewarded with some fun football. SDSU’s played in some weird games, most notably the one where the lights at its stadium literally went out and led to a pause in their eventual win over Stanford. There was also the time star running back Rashaad Penny literally dragged a Hawaii defender across the turf. This is one of the best mid-major teams in the country, too, with a quality defense that’s too much for most Group of 5 offenses to do anything against.
