Week 6 of the 2017 regular season is just about coming to a close with the Monday Night game remaining. Most fantasy football leagues will run their waiver wires late Tuesday or early Wednesday, but we are here to help you get a jump on the best options to consider.

We will be ranking the top five players likely to be available in your league at each of the four major positions. Some weeks there might not be five good options available, but we’ll scour for the best we can find. Additionally, throughout the week, we will update each of these articles as ownership percentages change and news arrives. The following ownership percentages come via CBS Sportsline entering Week 6.
Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears (21 percent ownership)
He is very much a work in progress, and his numbers are hardly eye-popping, but there’s something to be said for a rookie going into Baltimore and leading his team to an overtime victory. He has now faced two of the better defenses in the league, and his schedule does lighten up a bit, so there is potential here for Trubisky to become a late-season fantasy hero. Stash away.
Josh McCown, New York Jets (14)
They let McCown loose against the Patriots and he delivered with 354 yards and two touchdowns — and it should have been three TDs if not for that bizarre replay call on Austin Seferian-Jenkins. It was assumed the Jets would tank this season, but that is hardly the case and McCown is a big part of it. He remains an excellent bye-week fill-in.
Hogan really struggled in his first start against the Texans, and maybe that was to be expected, even with the injuries to Houston’s defensive line. But he goes from a tough defense to one of the worst pass defenses in the league next week against Tennessee. If you need a fill-in because of byes or injuries, Hogan could be a one-week wonder — and maybe more.
What do we have here? The 49ers turned to Beathard to replace the inept Brian Hoyer and the rookie delivered in a big way, completing 19 of 36 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown, nearly leading the 49ers to a wild comeback win in Washington. Hoyer has no future value in San Francisco, so don’t be surprised if the 49ers had the keys over to Beathard the rest of the season. He was a standout in the preseason, as well, so there is confidence in the rookie.
With Aaron Rodgers out indefinitely, Hundley gets the nod as the weekly starter, although his performance in relief on Sunday left a lot to be desired. Still, the weapons are there and maybe with all the first-team reps in practice, Hundley will be ready to contribute going forward. He’s the obvious pick-up this week, but not necessarily the best one.
