Tommy Hunter Has Groin Injury, Will Avoid Mound For 2-3 Weeks

Tommy Hunter has been on the disabled list since the spring on account of a strained groin. He only recently got to making rehab starts in the minors, but on Monday, he re-injured his groin, and after an examination, we've got a diagnosis:

Grade 1 groin strain for Rangers Tommy Hunter. Won't be on mound for 2 to 3 weeks.

I could sit here and tell you what this means for the Rangers, but honestly I might as well just rely on Lone Star Ball. Hit it, Adam Morris:

This is a big, big problem. Hunter's return would have provided the Rangers with another option should Matt Harrison have continued to struggle, or allowed the Rangers to put Alexi Ogando into the pen where he could shore up the gaping chestwound which is the Texas 8th inning relief role.

Now, the Rangers are going to have to roll with who they have, and hope that everyone in the rotation stays healthy and effective for at least another month.

Hunter’s injury aggravation is undoubtedly a setback, and while it isn’t a major one, it’s a big one for a team that’s currently in the midst of a considerable slump.
