Pacquiao Vs. Mosley Results: Jorge Arce Provides The Desired Shocking Upset
The viewers who tuned in to the Manny Pacquiao vs. “Sugar” Shane Mosley card Saturday evening got to see a special moment as an aging former champion upset his heavily favored and younger foe. Unfortunately for the 39 year old Mosley, it didn’t happen in the main event.
Jorge Arce may be the oldest 31 year old in boxing. The veteran of 63 professional bouts seemingly can’t keep himself from being in a war, and fights with bizarre regularity for an accomplished multiple time champion. In 2010 alone he stepped into the ring five times going 4-0-1 and earning a shot at the undefeated and highly ranked Wilfredo Vazquez Jr.

For several days we’ve heard that Top Rank put a $5 million offer on the table for Juan Manuel Marquez to fight Manny Pacquiao for a third time. Knowing that Marquez has talked for some time about how badly he wants the bout it seemed a foregone conclusion that the trilogy would go down in September. But yesterday Bob Arum told the press that Marquez was not happy with the offer and that they would be submitting him a revised offer on Monday.
So who would be next for Pacquiao if it isn’t Marquez? Arum says that the next choices would be Timothy Bradley or Zab Judah, both junior welterweights.

In the wake of Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley there will, no doubt, be fans wondering what is next for both men. For Pacquiao, he reaffirmed his status as the number one pound-for-pound fighter in boxing while Shane Mosley continued to look like a sad shell of his once great former self.
We know that Manny Pacquiao’s next fight is scheduled for November 12 and nothing that happened in this bout would seem to be the impetus for that fight being delayed. The ease with which Pacquiao defeated Mosley will, of course, lead to a renewed demand for Manny to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. Of course, Floyd can’t seem to keep himself out of legal trouble as we found out yet again earlier this week.

After the final bell in the 12 round fight between Manny Pacquiao and “Sugar” Shane Mosley it was clear that it would be Manny Pacquiao who got his hand raised. Shane Mosley looked every bit of 39 years old in his flat out inability to pull the trigger at any point in the fight. Manny Pacquiao showed his trademark aggression throughout the bout but the toughness of Mosley allowed him to survive the full twelve rounds.
After a very even first round it was Pacquiao who was able to start to take over. His signature moment came in round three when he landed a hard two punch combination that sent Mosley tumbling to the mat. Shane rose and managed to survive and get back to his corner, but from that point on he had no ability (or willingness) to let his hands go.

In the first round of the Showtime pay-per-view bout between Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KO) and “Sugar” Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KO) circled, feeling each other out for the first thirty seconds, flicking jabs and trying to find the appropriate range. Mosley landed a jab but Manny responded with a nice one-two combination. Manny seemed willing to go to the body early while Shane was looking for hooks and the jab but Shane landed a hard right to the body. Pacquiao quickly landed one of his own in return. A sharp right hand by Mosley landed with thirty seconds left in the round.
The round came to a close with neither man really laying claim to the card making it 10-10 on the SB Nation scorecard.

Wilfredo Vazquez Jr (20-0-1, 17 KO) took on Jorge Arce (56-6-2, 43 KO) in the final pay-per-view undercard bout of the Manny Pacquiao vs. “Sugar” Shane Mosley card.
The first round both men feel out the situation for the first minute but eventually both opened up and it was Arce landing a very big shot that hurt Vazquez and forced him to defend. Round two saw more good action with Arce continuing to get inside and land very hard shots that got Vazquez’s respect. That’s not to say that Vazquez wasn’t having his own moments and at one point he tagged Arce, prompting Jorge to stick out his chin and tell him to bring it.

Kelly Pavlik (32-2, 32 KO) took on Alfonso Lopez (21-0, 16 KO) on the pay-per-view undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. “Sugar” Shane Mosley card. The former middleweight champion Pavlik was returning to the ring after a stint in rehab for alcoholism.
Lopez was able to land some shots in the first round as Pavlik looked to get his legs. Lopez used a lot of feinting to try to keep Pavlik from getting settled but did eat a nice hook late in the round. Pavlik looked to fight a rougher fight in the second and managed to have a much better round, but this time it was Lopez making the late charge and possibly stealing the round.

Narh looked to use his height as the fight started to neutralize the aggression of Alvarado. The strategy of Narh kept Alvarado from really unloading with shots until the opening round was almost at a close. The second round saw the same strategy by Narh of using his speed and length but Alvarado started to land his counter shots and find space to hit Narh with power that was clearly affecting “Sugar” Ray.
Heading into round three it appeared that the fight was even at a round a piece, but Narh fought the round much more aware of Alvarado’s power and off his heels while Alvarado came forward throwing hard.
