Heat Vs. Spurs Score: San Antonio Pulls Away In Third Quarter

After closing the halftime deficit to 12, the Miami Heat faded in the third quarter, falling behind the San Antonio Spurs, 94-72. It’s all LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh for the Heat as the three combine for all but 17 of the Heats’ 72 points. Seven of the nine San Antonio players that have seen time are in double-figures as the Spurs spread the scoring load to widen the gap through the third.

Manu Ginobili led the way for the Spurs with 18 points, followed by Tony Parker’s 15. Gary Neal and Matt Bonner each have 12 points off the bench, With Richard Jefferson and Tim Duncan adding 11 and DeJuan Blair chipping in 10. Duncan has a double-double already, adding 14 rebounds to his 10 points. Parker has eight assists, with Ginobili adding six so far.

LeBron James has 21 points to lead all scorers through three, with Dwyane Wade adding 19 and Chris Bosh pitching in 15. Mike Miller has nine points off the bench, all of which came in the first half. Mario Chalmers and Mike Bibby each have four points thus far. Bosh has a double-double, as well, adding 13 rebounds.

It’s been a hot-and-cold night for the Heat, who stumbled out of the gate in the first quarter, came roaring back in the second and fell apart again in the third. Down 22, the Heat have a daunting task in front of them as they look to claw back against a San Antonio squad in full-control.
