Chris Paul Suffers Concussion, Will Not Play Monday Against Bulls

Chris Paul suffered a concussion in tonight’s New Orleans Hornets game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Late in the third quarter, Paul butted his head into Ramon Sessions’ upper body, instantly sprawling to the floor. After remaining on the floor for several minutes, Paul was placed on a stretcher with a neck brace and carted off the floor. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion.

Mary Schmitt Boyer from the Plain-Dealer reports the official news.

This was great news considering some of the rumors and early reports that leaked out:

In between all of that, ESPN released an apparently inaccurate report that Paul was out for the season. Less than an hour later, C.J. Paul, Chris' brother, tweeted that Paul was fine and that he "wanted to get off the stretcher and play but they wanted to make sure he was ok." It's unclear at this point if Paul will be held for overnight observation, but in any case, it's a virtual lock that Jarrett Jack will be starting in Chicago tomorrow night.

Paul will indeed sit out the Hornets' next game, a Monday tilt with the Bulls. It doesnt sound like he'll be out much longer but we'll wait and see. Keep an eye on At The Hive for updates.
