Marc Gasol returns to practice for first time since MCL sprain

Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol returned to practice on Monday but hasn’t set a return date.

Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol was set to run through a full contact practice on Monday for the first since spraining his MCL on Nov. 22, but there is still no timetable for his return, according to the Memphis Commerical Appeal's Ronald Tillery. Additionally, Gasol told Tillery that he hasn't experienced any pain in his knee.

It’s been nearly two months since Gasol went down, and the Grizzlies have gone 10-13 since losing their starting center. With Gasol, first-year coach Dave Joerger’s squad started the season with a 7-6 record.

Grizzly Bear Blues: More on the Grizzlies

Gasol, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, was averaging 16 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game before his knee injury. Kosta Koufos has started during Gasol's absence, and forward Zach Randolph has taken over as the main offensive weapon. Randolph has scored in double-figures in every game since Gasol's knee injury, aside from two he missed because of his own injury.

Koufos has averaged 7.7 points since Gasol's injury, and backup forward Ed Davis also has seen more minutes. Davis is averaging 9.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game since Gasol went down.
